One thing that seems to abound in law school is “advice” from other law students. While some advice is no doubt worthy of attention, some should be placed in the “circular file”.
Especially beware of other students who tell you that they never take notes or rarely study. If this is the case then they either have superb memory or are doing poorly (probably the latter). Also beware of other students that tell you how to study for a certain professor or if a certain professor is “easy” or “difficult”. These types of impressions are highly individual and should be made by you.
Finally, keep in mind that you are the one responsible for your studies and it is you that will have to live with your grades. Advice can be very helpful. Just be very selective about who you take it from.
As a closing thought I will just let you know that in my first year there was one person in particular who seemed to have all the answers about how to study and which professors to take. That person flunked out. Don’t let other law students psych you out. Keep pressing on and have a great day.
